One to Watch: Marco Dalla Villa

Bursting onto the DJ scene both in London and on the continent, Marco Dalla Villa is bringing a fresh flavor to the dance floor.

Moving to UK from Italy, at the tender age of 19, Marco had big dreams to build a career in music, even if it meant breaking away from his home and his family. Having started performing and exploring his musical talents from 16 years old, it was in London where he developed his sound and experience, playing across the capital. Working as a delivery man to fund his aspirations, the DJ began cross-continental collaborations with artists from all over the globe to create exciting new material.

When gigging, Marco likes to connect with his audience members, saying “Dance music can be much more than just a strong kick and bass” and that he doesn’t “follow any music genre, I put emotions into the dance floor”. His musical ability, however, is not just born from his personal feelings, the producer started learning piano from the age of 4, as well as studying music theory and composition.

He is now preparing to officially release his music for the first time, and with a catalogue of dance tracks inspired by the likes of Eiffel 65 and Klaas, there is no doubt you’ll be hearing him on your next night out. Keep your eyes and ears peeled.

Vidal & Curmà

The songwriters – who spend their time between their Northern Italian hometown of Padova and the UK’s capital – write on everyday problems. Super Talented Teen Shane Thomas Due to Release New Single Mrs Matisse 10th December

SHANE THOMAS01

The talented Shane Thomas has formerly been dubbed ‘Britain’s Mozart’ and is quite possibly the most talented teenager across the British music industry.

‘Mrs Matisee’ is the latest single from the classical star and is to be released 10th December, prior to the release of his debut album, ‘From Me To You’, due for release soon after.

‘Mrs Matisee’ showcases Shane’s incredible talent and beautifully demonstrates the amazing capabilities of this young composer. The tack in undeniably stunning and transpires audiences into the fascinating world of Shane Thomas.

Shane was inspired to write the track earlier this year when he saw a painting by Henri Matisse. He was so taken with the beauty of the painting that he decided to compose a piece of music about it. Shortly after writing the track Shane discovered that Debussy had been inspired by the very same painting and produced a well known piece of music called, Arabesque.

Shane began playing the piano at the tender age of seven and has since taken on the challenge of mastering the art of the cello and percussion.  Shane dreams up all of his music. He has never sat at a piano to compose anything. He does it all in his head, then later sits to play the piece. He can immediately play any melody or song he hears.

Impressively aged just ten, Shane was the youngest person in history to be signed to a music publisher, E.M.I. music.

SOLEMN SUN announce UK Headline Tour for November!

solemn sun

Feeling a little lost and unsure of the path you’re walking is one thing, having the vision and strength to do something about it, is another thing entirely. Earlier this year, folk-punks Jim Lockey and The Solemn Sun found themselves at that very junction, having released two full length albums under the moniker, the band opted to lay their previous works to rest and regroup to make plans for the next step.

“We’d reached the juncture where most would wander the beaten path and churn out a carbon copy of the last effort,” says Jim. “Having little time for bands that stagnate and even less for being consumed by the scene we found ourselves in, we decided we would take our band back from what it became. We would re-establish ourselves as people, reinvent the band we are and restart our journey again on our own terms.“

The result is SOLEMN SUN, an ambitious rock outfit, with only a dissected name from their previous output remaining. Debut single, ‘Josef’, is not only a clear statement of intent from the re-energised and re-focused quartet, but a perfect appetiser for what’s the come. You can watch the mesmerising new video to ‘Josef’ here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AgqoYQhN2no

DEBUT RELEASE ‘SOLEMN SUN’ EP IS OUT OCTOBER 13TH 2014

Bollywood Star Kumar Sanu releases album ‘Hum-Tum’

Album out now!

A true Bollywood legend who now has designs on the UK music industry, Kumar Sanu is an artist who has always seemed destined to find a career in music.

His father Shri Pashupati Bhattacharjee was prominent classical singer who, after a long career, found his place in Bollywood movies – setting the tone for his son’s career to follow.

Walking in his father’s footsteps, Kumar Sanu inevitably went on to sing for Bollywood films, eventually outshining the achievements of his predecessor. Sanu made his own way, winning an unprecedented collection of awards including the Filmfare Award for the Best Playback Singer in 1990, ‘91,’92, ‘93 and ’94 – a consecutive record that still stands in the Bollywood industry to this day.

In fact, Kumar Sanu has now won a total of 69 awards over a glittering career including 64 in his native India (from Filmfare, Zee Cine, Kishore Kumarand more) plus 5 internationally (from Sunrise Radio-London, West Indian Academy, Grammy-West Indies, Bollywood Music-U.S.A. and Radio Lotus-South Africa).

His success and his undoubtable vocal talent has made him one of the highest profile names in the industry, a standing which he has also used for good causes.

With charity work that includes Tsunami Victims Support, Cancer Research donations and school & orphanage development programmes, Sanu certainly can’t be accused of resting on his laurels. In fact, in 2009, he was awarded the Padma Shri award – the 4th largest civilian award it is possible to receive from the Government in India. There’s even a Mumbai hospital using one of his songs in their treatment of cancer patients!

And now, having enjoyed unparalleled success in his home environment and the USA (he is so well loved in Dayton, Ohio that they have an annual Kumar Sanu day on March 31st), Kumar Sanu is hoping to carry that success to the UK, where he is set to release new album Hum-Tum. As a teaser here is a new track and video recorded alongside fellow Bollywood artist Princess Almas Noor:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBrr5leFZX0

The video, set in and around London, shows the pair taking in the city sights before eventually meeting on the Millennium Bridge. The sound, which blends the Bollywood sensibilities with more standard pop tropes, is an excellent crossover introduction to one of Bollywood’s top stars.

R ‘N’ B/Soul singer Monica Azull releases debut single ‘I Like It’, May 12th

https://soundcloud.com/monica_azull/i-like-it

Half Ugandan half Congolese, Monica came to England aged eight. She is now living in London, signed to QH Music and is a star in the making.

On her first performance at performing arts school, an overwhelming audience response confirmed what she had known since writing her first song – music and performing was her true passion and a career she felt she had to pursue.

Her debut release ‘I Like It’ is about a man, ambitions and fantasies…

“At the time, there was this guy that was pursuing me, I also happened to think he was cute but didn’t want to tell him how I felt towards him. I feared that a relationship would interfere with my ambitions… I’m sure every woman has their fantasies!”-Monica Azull

Musically speaking the track has a very soulful R’N’B vibe to it. There is a strong beat that really drives the song which is topped off by Azull’s impeccable vocal skill.

Masked Musicians, Freddie Fiction Release Debut Single ‘I Don’t Dream’

Mysterious London/LA singer hits the UK with new band and video

Image

New band Freddie Fiction hit the UK with debut single ‘I Don’t Dream’. Fronted by a very successful artist, he is currently keeping his identity under wraps, or should I say mask?

The dark, soulful acoustic number is a haunting melancholic ‘anti-love song’ with the sound of a mournful Jose Gonzales. You can see the video here:

Soon to be followed by the satirical tracks ‘Pistol Pete’ and ‘Big Corporation’ – songs stacked full of wit and strong social messages – ‘I Don’t Dream’ serves as a gentle but shadowy introduction.

The band might remain very much a mystery at the moment, but fans of their music will have the chance to find out more by participating in an exciting treasure hunt to reveal the man behind the mask and the identities of the rest of the members. Some fantastic prizes are also available, so stay tuned!

It’s A Bright Future for ‘ShoDem ENT’

The future is certainly looking bright for Samson, aka ‘Sose’, of ShoDem Ent/SMG. A young and flourishing entrepreneur from London who has big plans for the future, Sose’s vision for ShoDem is to work with a variety of UK artists and deliver original, raw and exciting UK talent and music.

Sose wants to prove to people that it is possible to become a young businessman within the music industry without conforming to a stereotype. He has always had an entrepreneurial instinct, even from a young age when he used to sell sweets for a profit. Providing for his family and supporting his mother from an early age has taught Sose to dream big, and that with hard work you can achieve anything.

Now however his dreams are bigger – running ShoDem Ent whilst also working as a manager and publisher with the objective to eventually find artists whom they can sign and develop. Sose has a versatile music taste, and this is reflected in the music that ShoDem produce. ShoDem SMG have collaborated with Beluga Ice – A well known MC from West London – to produce and release their brand new debut track ‘#ChequeMe’. The song has an extremely catchy hook and the lyrics are current and relatable – depicting a talented man who could have it all, as long as he stops being lazy and works for it. It’s due for release on the 28th January, you can watch the video for it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0fiRM8EOg4

You can also catch ShoDem SMG at their first event in Great Portland Street in London on the 29th January.
