True Religion unleash an entrancing fusion of Spanish and English influences on their new single “Que Bonita”.

Today, I would like to introduce you to one of the most novel musical acts currently performing today. The duo “True Religion” consist of the virtuosic flamenco guitarist Juan Carmona and the exceptional vocalist Amy Gill. With distinctive vocals, combined with pounding beats that will fill any dancefloor, “True Religion” have crafted one of the most unique sounds of the fast-growing underground music scene.

The exhilarating single “Que Bonita” begins with the strumming of Carmona’s tender guitar strings which immediately grabs the listener’s attention. Then, the exceptional, soulful vocals of Gill kick in, which will make any listener yearn to dissect every word that emerges from Gill’s vocal chords. Gill’s voice is very reminiscent of a young Sinead O’Connor, due to her unique ability to hit the highest of octaves. The first 50 seconds of this track allows the listener to hear Gill’s isolated vocals, combined with exceptional production work, Gill’s vocals have a distinctive ‘echo’ effect, which allows Gill to have the maximum emotional effect on the listener.

“True Religion is the truth about ourselves, about how we can handle things, the emotion of being alive and feeling the others, about how we can manage difficult situations, by being kind, conscious, by practicing mindfulness and meditation, by true friendship, by trying to be better persons every day.” – True Religion

The track then takes an unexpected turn, when a house dance beat is introduced alongside Gill’s vocals, with Carmona’s distinctive guitar playing also making a much welcomed return. The music gradually grows into an irresistible electronic/dance track that will be welcomed at any nightclub in world, especially post COVID-19.

The wonderful attraction of “True Religion” is that you never know what they are going to do next. This is the case with “Que Bonita” as the track’s final two minutes contain no vocals and instead allow the listener to appreciate Carmona’s exceptional musicianship on both the guitar and piano, this is his moment to shine!

This track is a wonderful blend of flamenco and house, with influences from both England and Spain that will hopefully unite the whole continent of Europe during a period in which we arguably, the most isolated from each other. Check out “Que Bonita” if you haven’t already!

BPSOCA release an instant dance classic in ‘Djèn Djèn’

BPSOCA have just released one of the best dance songs of 2021 that is destined to be inescapable across Bluetooth speakers this summer. BPSOCA music is a British record label that aims to bring Caribbean soul music back to the UK Charts. ‘Djèn Djèn’ has an irresistible pounding melody which is difficult to get to leave your subconscious once you’ve heard it. The track has some of the best vocal delivery that I’ve heard all year that complements the track’s narrative of the experience of the women’s perspective at a Soca Fate (Party).

The music track was fittingly produced in Trinidad, which allows the song to transcend Caribbean culture and transports the listener onto an energetic Caribbean beach.

BPSOCA Music have been heavily influenced by other Caribbean artists such as ‘Major Lazor’, ‘Machel Montano’ and ‘Bunji Garlin’. They have kickstarted the Caribbean soul revolution by releasing ‘Djèn Djèn’, and I am eagerly anticipating what other plethora of musical soliloquies they will craft to benefit music lovers.

Former Eurovision contender Waterflower releases industry-bending new single ‘Palm vs Palm’

To distinguish Waterflower as a unique artist is rather an understatement when considering her methods behind making music.

With a similar sound to that of Bjork and FKA Twigs, Latvian-born art student Sabine Moore (AKA Waterflower) is bending industry norms by using plants to produce her songs (Yes, plants).

Watch: Waterflower’s latest single, ‘Palm vs Palm’.

From using electromagnetic pulses to extract melodies from plants, to playing them live on stage as a living keyboard, Waterflower’s approach to making music is something we’ve never seen before.

“I started working with plant synthesisers in 2015 when I saw the Kickstarter project for the Ototo Synthesiser. I decided that this is what ‘Waterflower’ is all about, playing with plants as synthesiser keys.”

WATERFLOWER, ON HER INTRODUCTION TO PLANT-BASED MUSIC.

‘Palm vs Palm’ is the latest example of her work that previously saw her just miss out on representing her home nation at Eurovision. With the song title derived from the plant which she used to make it, Waterflower’s latest tune is a cacophony of delicate strings, wobbling synthesisers, thudding drums and effortlessly controlled vocals.

Having toured Europe, receiving rave reviews from the likes of The Playground and Resonance FM, Waterflower’s individuality and creativity has seen her gain significant attention.

From the looks of ‘Palm vs Palm’, Waterflower’s upcoming album Balta Gaisma will be innovative, experimental and somewhat extraordinary.

Check out ‘Palm vs Palm’ as part of the new album set to drop on September 28th, or listen now on all major streaming platforms.

One to Watch: Marco Dalla Villa

Bursting onto the DJ scene both in London and on the continent, Marco Dalla Villa is bringing a fresh flavor to the dance floor.

Moving to UK from Italy, at the tender age of 19, Marco had big dreams to build a career in music, even if it meant breaking away from his home and his family. Having started performing and exploring his musical talents from 16 years old, it was in London where he developed his sound and experience, playing across the capital. Working as a delivery man to fund his aspirations, the DJ began cross-continental collaborations with artists from all over the globe to create exciting new material.

When gigging, Marco likes to connect with his audience members, saying “Dance music can be much more than just a strong kick and bass” and that he doesn’t “follow any music genre, I put emotions into the dance floor”. His musical ability, however, is not just born from his personal feelings, the producer started learning piano from the age of 4, as well as studying music theory and composition.

He is now preparing to officially release his music for the first time, and with a catalogue of dance tracks inspired by the likes of Eiffel 65 and Klaas, there is no doubt you’ll be hearing him on your next night out. Keep your eyes and ears peeled.

A dose of French electro-swing with ‘Alors Je Danse’ – the latest dance track from No-Ce and her band

After a successful run at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Cecile Nordegg (No-Ce) and her band have taken their unique mélange of Edith Piaf-esque chanson and Frank Zappa musical stylings to yet another unexpected destination – dance,

Alors Je Danse is their first release from the forthcoming album and sees them adapting their sound to a more electronic genre, an adaptation that is flawless in its transition. The track is carried by Cécile’s rich vocals and flirts stylistically with the wave of electro-swing that combines the elements of jazz and electronic melodies – a combination that has the demanding effect of dance.

Previously a successful film and TV actor, Cécile is backed by a band of outstanding musicians who have already made names for themselves: JP Chiche on guitar and background vocals (previously having shared the stage with everyone from Aerosmith to Fats Domino) and Andreas Pirringer on sax, flute and clarinet and Walter Bass on piano – just to name a few.

Their previous release, Jazz Proclamation Vol. 1&2 was a collection of tracks which transcended language and genre and Alors Je Danse looks set to achieve similar cross-over success with fans of dance music.

Review: Hunter's "So Gay" Is A Colorful, Flamboyant Message To Those Who Turn Their Nose Up At The LGBTQ Community

There’s a new breed of activist in town, and hes coming to us with a classic tune for all of those subject to discrimination or hate, just because they were born differently.
The track “So Gay” can be seen in a few different ways, for example, one could see it as a invitation to accept yourself and others for who they are, and others may just see this song as a big middle finger to those who have already acted harshly against anyone a part of the LGBTQ community.
The track itself draws from lots of different styles, drawing from inspirations from around the globe. With a Blues styled husk, Hunter sings the lyrics with strength and passion, while the instrumentation has military nuances, the inclusion of guitars, and a heavy Bass section culminating in this momentous opus.

Review: Hunter's New Single 'So Gay' Is A Clear Message To Those Who Discriminate

Activist and Artist ‘Hunter’ dabbles in pretty much everything creative, whether it be fashion, music or art, Hunter has no barriers when it comes to creation.
New song ‘So Gay’ is a protest to all those who discriminate, or negatively look at people who are different in any aspect. As well as that, the lyrics show the basic and forefront mentality that ‘i am who i am, take it or leave it’, which i feel has a great effect on audiences around the world.
The track itself has influence from blues, to Pop and dance, giving a well rounded and stylistically intriguing take on music that focus on this subject matter.
Its bold and unapologetic about its roots, making hunter a great performer, writer and creator.

The Scripts 'Arms Open' Video Out Now!

“For us, this is more than just a music video. Like the song itself, we wanted to reach out to as many people as possible, people who have been less fortunate in life, giving them a platform to tell their stories. On researching the ideas for the video, we came across so many charities, and while they are all doing such great work, we were immediately inspired by A Sense of Home and wanted to show support and build awareness. This organisation offered a real solution that could be rolled out across the world, particularly in Ireland where this problem is so prevalent. So please help us share it wide and share it proud with Arms Open.”
