Glaswegian artist Leif Coffield unleashes new single ‘Say My Name’

Released February 5th, ‘Say My Name‘ may have only been out for a short amount of time, but it’s certainly turning heads within the electro-pop world. Best described as innovative and easily able to become the next big thing in the industry, Leif Coffield has already gained support from the likes of CLASH, national BBC Radio and many sites across the web.

Say My Name‘ features electronic instrumentations and cutting lyricism. Exploring themes like tackling the feeling of being pressured in a relationship and the yearning to be set free again, the track conveys a mantra of self discovery and assurance.

On creating music and influences, Leif explains: “I try in each of my songs for them to have one unique element, or one distinguishing factor that sounds out of the ordinary and that separates it from the norm. I take a lot of inspiration from artists that endeavour to break the mould and refrain from operating within the confines of the mainstream...

Artists like Flume, FINNEAS, Kanye West, Bon Iver push the boundaries of the creative process. I would describe my music as if hip hop impregnated acoustic and gave birth to a baby that was raised in an electronic family. I always try to evoke emotion in the song whether it be through the instrumentation or accompanying vocal melody and lyrics.”

Say My Name‘ is out now, and deserves your ears to taste on.

8-year-old Elle raises money to support homeless people with new Christmas single

Capturing the heart of the Country with her beautiful new single ‘It’s Christmas’, Elle is only 8-years-old, but proves that talent can be found at any age.

A percentage of all money raised from downloads goes directly to the charity Shelter. With the added songwriting talent of Elle’s hairdresser Saab Vancootan, the heartfelt Christmas single will melt your heart this Christmas with its powerful message.

On her emotive new single, Elle mentioned, “I just hope this song makes people think about homeless people this Christmas. It must be horrible to live on the streets and I just want to try and help them more if I can. Thank you to everyone who supports this fundraising campaign.”

Max Newton, head of community fundraiser for Shelter said, “It’s been a year of unbelievable difficulty for many people. The impact of the pandemic means that many people are facing homelessness for the first time; some will be forced to sleep on the streets this winter. Shelter is working hard to help those who are worst affected – but as growing numbers of people need our support, we need the support of the public.

Using a simple approach to convey the story, whenever you see the lyric ‘It’s Christmas’, you won’t only be thinking of Noddy Holder from Slade anymore.

We need more humans like Elle…

‘Electric Gold’ is the latest track from pop singer-songwriter Ruth Brosnan

An ode to the Superheroes of the COVID-19 Pandemic, ‘Electric Gold‘ is the latest single from Cork-based pop musician Ruth Brosnan.

Highly energetic and armed with a task to make listeners dance along, this up-tempo number is comprised of a mixture of influences from the 80s and electronic eras.

Hoping to bring an escapism to the current dark climate of the world, the track’s message is to provide hope to millions during these uncertain times. Something to stick on repeat to also filter away those winter blues, it’s a reassuring number that feels like a shoulder to cry on.

On the track, Ruth mentioned, “It’s about realizing that we are all our own heroes and will overcome these tough times and emerge together stronger. It is a shot of adrenaline to all of those obeying the rules so far to keep on going and a thank you/acknowledgement to frontline staff.”

“Electric Gold” attempts to uplift listeners, guiding them through what currently feels like a monotone life, through the lens of rose-tinted glasses. A friendly reminder that things will get easier, and to always look for that light at the end of the tunnel, Ruth Brosnan is a songwriter destined to leave you with a smile on your face.

Flight delay leads to Laura Mitchell’s soulful new number ‘Killing Time’

Written by composer John Young while waiting for a long-haul flight – that’s one way to kill some time!

New single ‘Killing Time‘ by soul singer Laura Mitchell is a melancholic number that channels refreshing soundscapes while holding onto a nostalgic presence. Like something you’d hear straight out of the Love Actually soundtrack, this familiar yet authentic piece of music will pull at your heartstrings.

‘Killing Time’ features pianist David Bennett and Laura Mitchell’s jazzy vocals. Mainly working in the wedding industry, Laura’s no stranger to the stage, and connected with ‘Killing Time’ instantly.

“I didn’t see this coming or work towards it. I am in a wedding band. At weddings, many people ask, ‘Do you perform you own stuff?’ or ‘You should go on X Factor’ – I didn’t have plans for that. I used to write music in my teens but worked off most of that angst and sadly stopped writing music when I started learning about it at Uni. I suffered from stage fright for a long time, but through the wedding band, the ability to put on the dress and heels and become a rock star – singing other people’s songs, I become someone else. It’s nice for me to become vulnerable again with a chance to show off the softer side of my vocals.”

Lucas Tadini set to release debut album in September

After the success of his debut single ‘The Arsonist’, Lucas Tadini is back with his next single ‘Welcome Back to Freedom’ ahead of his debut album ‘Collective Delusion’ which is set to be released in September.

Watch the lyric video for ‘The Arsonist’ here

The new track, out on 26th June, tackles Tadini’s past struggles with mental health and how he has freed himself from them in recent times – a very necessary message for us all at this moment in time.

The album, consisting of 9 tracks, includes this overarching theme of mental health with other tracks such as ‘Over the Rhone’, which addresses Vincent Van Gogh’s struggle with his mental health which resulted in his suicide and ‘23’, a track that Tadini wrote when he was 23 years old about his personal struggles at the time.

With inspirations for the album coming from rock legends such as Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix as well as Tadini’s multicultural background, his education at Berklee College of Music and his cat Lucifer (!), we can’t wait to hear the rest of the album and see where Tadini goes this year.

NYC’S KYLE AVALLONE SHARES SWAGGERING NEW SINGLE ‘CRUISE CONTROL’

“Cruise Control” is the new single off New York City musician Kyle Avallone’s upcoming debut album, “Last Minute Man”. The song is an ode to the nightlife and all the satisfaction and suffering that comes with it. A nocturnal journey that starts with desire, ends with discontent, and investigates the dances that perpetuate our longing.

While establishing himself in the NYC music scene playing with artists like Cut Worms and Shilpa RayKyle Avallone began working at home on what would become his new solo project, a dark and moody world where he could investigate the layers of romantic turmoil, hedonistic habits, and ordinary life.

His debut album, “Last Minute Man”, is a sleazy offering of Casiotones covered in barroom smoke and crimson cabaret light; a scuzzed out tower of songs that takes you on a late-night escapade littered with neon signs, bathroom debauchery, and 3AM rendezvous. You could be nightclubbing in Berlin with the ghost of Rowland S. Howard, or zig zagging across the floor of the Black Lodge with holes in your loafers, a tear in your dress.

“I wanted to escape the day-to-day,” says Avallone. That desire to run away permeates through all of the album’s nine tracks. In the sloppy swagger of “The Haunted Screen” a fallen angel has broken a wing at the expense of love. Despite his soul-sucking existence, he flies on. On the hypnotic closer, “Take Me Away” Avallone pleas, “Let’s sail the sea by night/The distant shore is bright/I’ve counted my cards, there’s nothing for me here/Disappear.”

Of course, there are other ways to check out—indulgence, excess, isolation. “Cruise Control” chronicles a night on the town in the manner of Bowie’s Thin White Duke—the pursuit of cold satisfaction and the untold numbness that follows. Over the incessant groove of “I’m Ready” a prophet, prince, or president lays claim to his throne and prepares for his ascension, as well as the end of days. “Somewhere You Can’t Find Me” puts you on the other end of a desperate phone call from the depths of addiction, a lost soul’s muddled goodbye.

But don’t be mistaken—it’s not all doom and gloom. Avallone’s lyrics and delivery contain an undercurrent of wry flirtation that suggests these characters can see beyond their torture. The title track, “Last Minute Man” evokes the self-deprecation and gentle chauvinism of Leonard Cohen—“When your drink is done/when the party’s no fun/when you bite and bat, but still he don’t come/that’s when the light shines on me…” The romantic ballad, “Borrowed Spell” finds our seducer waiting in anxious anticipation, fearful of what consequences love may bring.

These songs are a mirror in a motel where you only like the way you look if you’ve had enough to drink. This album is a soundtrack for those who fly too close to the sun.

Tracklisting:
1. Somewhere You Can’t Find Me
2. Savage Song
3. The Haunted Screen
4. I’m Ready
5. Last Minute Man
6. Borrowed Spell
7. Born A Bastard
8. Cruise Control
9. Take Me

Soulful Congo-Funk Vocalist Elvic Kongolo Changes His Tune As He Releases A Ballad Ahead Of Valentines

Congo-Funk vocalist Elvic Kongolo is set to release his new single “Our Story,” a powerful and emotive track that deals with a dilemma encountered in a relationship. Taking the rhythmic sounds of his homeland and marrying them with his experiences in Europe, “Our Story” is a gentle introduction to his sound, showcasing his soaring, soulful tones with a song about the difficulties encountered within a relationship.

Hear what Elvic has to say about “Our Story”:

When I hear “Our Story”, I picture a beautiful relationship between two people. Their relationship was fantastic, they were in paradise. Unfortunately, their love couldn’t conquer the obstacles coming their way and it did not last”.

The song is a strong but gentle reminder that we often find happiness by remembering what we have in common with other people, not what divides us.

OUR STORY” TEASER – LISTEN NOW

“Our Story” is a slightly different sound to Elvic’s usual repertoire. Kongolo is based in Oslo, Norway and creates music inspired by his Congolese heritage. Blending Congolese rhythms with American funk influences, Elvic sings in English, Lingala, French, and Norwegian, though his commitments to music has been tested rigorously since arriving in Norway. Initially wanting to become a musician, he was convinced by his family to study instead, a decision which had disastrous consequences, ultimately finding Elvic reduced to living on the streets. Through the help of others and a burning desire to spread joy through his music, he has found himself performing in front of large audiences thanks to his energetic stage show which has elements of the frenzied performances of James BrownFela Kuti and Little Richard.

If you want to watch Elvic paving the way for Congo-Funk then check out the video below and keep an eye out for “Our Story” released 12th February 2020.
