Classical Music’s Unlikely Rising Star Six Nights announces new album ’21’

When you see a numeric album title, I don’t know about you, but I instantly think of Adele. Six Nights’ music is far from pop. Set to release his debut album ‘21‘, the remarkable offering is bathed in classical sensibilities, making it a mature release filled with creativity. Not only drawing inspiration from the likes of traditional classical music artists, Six Nights is also influenced by the likes of R&B, hip-hop and even film scores. A cinematic artist that has used this past year in a positive light, ’21’ showcases how diverse Six Nights truly is.

Most likely to find him in a tracksuit than a suit, Six Nights thinks outside the box and makes him a strong contender in the classical world. Not following your typical rulebook or strict guidelines, Six Nights showcases that 2021 is the year of being true to yourself. If this past year has taught us anything it’s to live in the now and love yourself for who you truly are, and that’s exactly what Six Nights accomplishes on ’21’. A breathtaking story with elements of new-age instrumental moments, this highly emotive album will leave you speechless.

Michael Cooke finds his identity with latest album release ‘Doin’ Alright’

Michael Cooke’s recently-released debut album ‘Doin’ Alright‘ is doing more than alright. An exceptional release that finally helps Cooke find his own identity after a years of looking in different industries; his story doesn’t start with music. Having had his hopes dashed of becoming an Olympic athlete, Michael turned to acting.

To keep you fully in the loop, Michael has an identical twin who is always in the acting industry. Coming up against his own twin for the same roles, Michael still became a successful actor, and has featured in films ‘Now You See Me 2‘ and ‘Outpost 3‘ to name a few.

‘Doin’ Alright’ is an 8 track release straight from the heart. Soul-bearing and securing a strong indie persona, the album hears all of Michael’s influences under one roof. Somewhere between the sound of the 60’s while still sounding refreshingly like the present, the album resides in a folk come indie rock atmosphere.

Listen to ‘Doin’ Alright’ below, we’re certain it’ll brighten your day.

Cloudy Clouds unveils poetic 14-track album ‘Imprisoned in a Daydream’

Cloudy Clouds releases his debut album, ‘Imprisoned in a Daydream’. A collection of songs filled with nostalgia and an instant ‘classic’ feel to it’s soundscape, this is a statement for the UK’s ever-growing hip-hop scene. Claudio Elliston aka Cloudy Clouds draws inspiration from artists such as Eminem and Sha Stimuli, but always brings his own individuality to the table. An artist that’s not afraid to beat around the bush, Cloudy Clouds’ iconic aspects include British humour, emotive lyricism and personal songwriting.

Imprisoned in a Daydream’ begins with a subtle American twang dialogue before venturing into the unknown. A hazy beginning that lingers in your mind for days, and as Claudio states.. ‘I don’t want to leave this dream ever.’ As for the next single, ‘Struggle Rappers Anthem’ isn’t for the faint hearted. Straight to the point about wanting more exposure with his distinctive songwriting, this grime-influenced number is bathed in hard-hitting rhythms. Bringing a strong flavour of the sound of rap in the noughties, ‘Calling Round’ blends elegant piano lines with creative vocals

Hear It’ is a collaboration straight from the heart. Featuring rapper Aïda, the lyrics are sharp and fuelled with hook-lines. While the instrumentation is mellow and easy-listening, the chaotic vocals on top are innovative.

Wavy’ is a thought-provoking, relatable number, while ‘Freewriting’ features an iconic piano line that nudges early Eminem vibes. ‘Dirty Secrets’ then enters with enchanting vocals, and turns into an experimental hip-hop wonder.

An album that thinks outside the box, most of the release still pays ode to Cloudy Clouds’ influences. Though with ‘My Environment,’ Cloudy Clouds is simply in his natural habitat. Rhyming on command and ambitious piano lines, this number flows like water from a stream.

‘Pillow Talk’ feels like a subtle album feeler on the release. At just under 2 minutes long, the backing vocals are simply bewitching. ‘One Night’ is the most commercial track on the record, and features a collaboration straight from the heavens. Firahs and Lucci Rich add their own flavour to this established anthem. ‘Wrote You a Love Song’ is infused with mainstream pop sensibilities.

Arguably Cloudy Clouds’ most powerful track, ‘Your Future Daughter’ deals with truthful dialogue on the UK’s drug laws. Armed with British commentary and unique views, it’s the haunting backing vocals that you’ll be singing along to. ‘Maybe Tomorrow Then’ tells the story of feeling unmotivated, and always remembering that you can just get things done tomorrow.

Describing the album in one word, ‘Priceless’ rounds off a release with purity and charisma. Cloudy Clouds is an artist filled with character – and the thoughtful, carefully-constructed tunes on this record deserve to be listened to.

Lucas Tadini set to release debut album in September

After the success of his debut single ‘The Arsonist’, Lucas Tadini is back with his next single ‘Welcome Back to Freedom’ ahead of his debut album ‘Collective Delusion’ which is set to be released in September.

Watch the lyric video for ‘The Arsonist’ here

The new track, out on 26th June, tackles Tadini’s past struggles with mental health and how he has freed himself from them in recent times – a very necessary message for us all at this moment in time.

The album, consisting of 9 tracks, includes this overarching theme of mental health with other tracks such as ‘Over the Rhone’, which addresses Vincent Van Gogh’s struggle with his mental health which resulted in his suicide and ‘23’, a track that Tadini wrote when he was 23 years old about his personal struggles at the time.

With inspirations for the album coming from rock legends such as Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix as well as Tadini’s multicultural background, his education at Berklee College of Music and his cat Lucifer (!), we can’t wait to hear the rest of the album and see where Tadini goes this year.

NYC’S KYLE AVALLONE SHARES SWAGGERING NEW SINGLE ‘CRUISE CONTROL’

“Cruise Control” is the new single off New York City musician Kyle Avallone’s upcoming debut album, “Last Minute Man”. The song is an ode to the nightlife and all the satisfaction and suffering that comes with it. A nocturnal journey that starts with desire, ends with discontent, and investigates the dances that perpetuate our longing.

While establishing himself in the NYC music scene playing with artists like Cut Worms and Shilpa RayKyle Avallone began working at home on what would become his new solo project, a dark and moody world where he could investigate the layers of romantic turmoil, hedonistic habits, and ordinary life.

His debut album, “Last Minute Man”, is a sleazy offering of Casiotones covered in barroom smoke and crimson cabaret light; a scuzzed out tower of songs that takes you on a late-night escapade littered with neon signs, bathroom debauchery, and 3AM rendezvous. You could be nightclubbing in Berlin with the ghost of Rowland S. Howard, or zig zagging across the floor of the Black Lodge with holes in your loafers, a tear in your dress.

“I wanted to escape the day-to-day,” says Avallone. That desire to run away permeates through all of the album’s nine tracks. In the sloppy swagger of “The Haunted Screen” a fallen angel has broken a wing at the expense of love. Despite his soul-sucking existence, he flies on. On the hypnotic closer, “Take Me Away” Avallone pleas, “Let’s sail the sea by night/The distant shore is bright/I’ve counted my cards, there’s nothing for me here/Disappear.”

Of course, there are other ways to check out—indulgence, excess, isolation. “Cruise Control” chronicles a night on the town in the manner of Bowie’s Thin White Duke—the pursuit of cold satisfaction and the untold numbness that follows. Over the incessant groove of “I’m Ready” a prophet, prince, or president lays claim to his throne and prepares for his ascension, as well as the end of days. “Somewhere You Can’t Find Me” puts you on the other end of a desperate phone call from the depths of addiction, a lost soul’s muddled goodbye.

But don’t be mistaken—it’s not all doom and gloom. Avallone’s lyrics and delivery contain an undercurrent of wry flirtation that suggests these characters can see beyond their torture. The title track, “Last Minute Man” evokes the self-deprecation and gentle chauvinism of Leonard Cohen—“When your drink is done/when the party’s no fun/when you bite and bat, but still he don’t come/that’s when the light shines on me…” The romantic ballad, “Borrowed Spell” finds our seducer waiting in anxious anticipation, fearful of what consequences love may bring.

These songs are a mirror in a motel where you only like the way you look if you’ve had enough to drink. This album is a soundtrack for those who fly too close to the sun.

Tracklisting:
1. Somewhere You Can’t Find Me
2. Savage Song
3. The Haunted Screen
4. I’m Ready
5. Last Minute Man
6. Borrowed Spell
7. Born A Bastard
8. Cruise Control
9. Take Me

The fragile and folk-like sounds of Rie Fu’s forthcoming album ‘Places’ and her intense relationship between music and surroundings

Set to release her debut album Places in March 2019, Rie Fu illustrates a unique philosophy whereby she creates a relationship between her music and surroundings. Radiating the fragile beauty and quintessential delicacy that Kate Bush and Laura Nyro encapsulate, Rie corresponds her music with her transition of location from Tokyo, Japan to the picturesque English countryside in Surrey.

Rie takes the abiding link between music and culture, whereby she enforces that culture differences go far deeper than language. Completing a masters degree in specialised translation at UCL, Rie emphasised in her thesis that when the Japanese attempt to replicate UK and other Western styles, the outcome is always with fault as the surroundings of the respective countries do not match.

This reflection of culture and surroundings through music is exemplified perfectly in Rie’s transition of music style, from the densely textured electronica she played whilst living in the hustle and bustle of Tokyo, to the more folk, pastoral current material that she has produced in the English countryside. The forthcoming album Places is built from a spine of Rie’s lead vocals, acoustic guitar and delicate piano, with classical, jazzy undertones contributed by subtle electric guitar touches and Jo Quail’s cello. Taken from the album, Ripples gives us a taster of what is yet to come in her March debut album release.

Listen to the album here: http://richardrhysobrien.com/albums/iknowalittleplace/

Richard Rhys O’Brien is a singer songwriter who started writing in 2009, after a career as an economist and futurist. This background has taught him many things about how the world revolves, inspiring him to write his songs of love and life, accompanied by wry commentary on contemporary issues such as climate change (as in “cloud on the horizon”- video included) and consumerism – with the accompanying video “ choice would be a fine thing”.

Richard Rhys O’Brien style draws on folk, rock, blues, country and classical influences – particularly inspired by a lifelong following of Loudon Wainwright III, Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen. He has been singing with the North London choir Eclectic Voices since 2000 (jazz, gospel, classical and world music) and plays piano and keyboards.

Some of his popular songs that are included in his debut album are “Take it as it Comes”, “Audition Blues”, “Silvery Moon”, “Rollercoaster”, “She Said Yes!”The song “No truth, No Lies” is one of the more serious songs where Richard Rhys O’Brien reveals a little bit  of a preachy  tone and “Heroes or zeroes” reflects on the slide from great leadership to dictatorship . in contrast other songs on the album like ““If You Say You Cannot See My Shadow” and “Be Like a Bird” display his playful and lighter tones.

His songs feature other professional and talented musicians and singers like Bruce Knapp (guitars), Tony Shepherd (drums), Richard Sadler (bass), Christine Axelle and Callie Howard (supporting vocals) all produced with Matthew Knapp and recorded in Brighton.

His debut album, composing 14 songs, is mainly inspired by the blues, tangos, waltz and lullaby, reflecting modern life and love with accompaniment of sparkling guitar, tinkling piano, pulsating bass and drums as well as great lyrics that are sung with remarkable clarity.

Songwriter Richard Rhys O’Brien knows exactly how to strike a delicate balance between playful arrangements and heartfelt songwriting that infuses great musical direction from different band’s muses. Richard Rhys O’Brien’s debut album is available on iTunes and Amazon Store.
