Dancehall artist Lexxicon sets his eyes on new EP ‘Bashment SZN’

Truly immersive and creating a captivating soundscape, Lexxicon is an artist that refuses to be limited to one style. Showcasing his Bashment, Dancehall, Tropical R&B and Grime influences, “Bashment SZN” is the definition of cool.

A musician with layers of personality buried within his soul, the intense energy within the first single from ‘Bashment SZN’ is out of this world. Titled ‘Pon Di Floor’ – this is the type of track that makes listeners be even more excited for when the clubs re-open. Can you imagine this dropping when you’re on the floor?!

Talking about the EP, Lexxicon mentions, “As a dancehall music lover, I always wanted to create a small project that really reflected those that I looked up to and this EP is that project. You won’t be able to listen without moving, grooving and wishing you could catch a bubble.”

“Pon Di Floor” is the perfect first track from the forthcoming EP, and gives insight to an incredible release ahead.

Thai-Chilean singer-songwriter Araya releases powerful debut album ‘Atlas’

Brooklyn based, Thai-Chilean singer songwriter Araya has released the exceptional debut album ‘Atlas‘. Covering themes from inclusivity and identity, the the LP features leading track ‘Color Palette’, which has over 340,000 Spotify Streams already. Gaining support from blogs and magazines across the web, ‘Atlas’ is a 14-track album which drives listeners through a world of musical introspection.

Speaking about his journey, Araya quotes, “I think my music is mainly inspired by curiosity to forever learn and further investigate certain parts of myself that have led me to a deeper understanding of my place here. I think music has provided me a space to dissect my thoughts and experiences in an organic way that is lasting. The drafts of both my perspective and choices come to represent me and my journey.”

“Atlas” weaves it’s audience through an alternative pop cum hip-hop soundscape, ready to grab your attention and never let it go. Speaking on the actual album, Araya added:

“Atlas is my personal map/guide to self-discovery; each major event, revelation and freedom has led to
furthering ever changing versions of both myself and my art. As the project neared completion, I had felt like a weathered superhero amongst my own set of avenger accomplices; I had just felt so comfortable, confident and able…

It wasn’t until I stepped out of the way of my own self; put my worries and anxieties aside to nurture my dreams that I felt able to feel an honest safety in myself and my people. Finding this sort of “Eden” right under my nose in my own strengths and special qualities is the first major thing I hope to pass on to my fellow humans floating through this universe. It’s all inside of us and we’ve always been enough, that’s how me and my art feels existing right now.”

The Fabulous Red Diesel’s ‘The Queensbury House Sessions’ is an incredible modern-soul jazz release

A collective quite unlike any other you’ll come across, The Fabulous Red Diesel are innovative and creating music without a specific label. Quirky and armed with everything you’d want from a ‘soul meets jazz collective’, ‘The Queensbury House Sessions’ is for fans of Madeline Peyroux, Joni Mitchell & even Frank Zappa.

With leading single ‘Butterfly Mind’ telling the tale of how true love remains a constant factor in life, no matter where your mind may drift to. On the release, vocalist Kat Lee-Ryan mentioned, “it’s about the way my brain works and the way music flits from one person to another, changing their perception (hopefully for the better) by tiny inspirational touches. And then it’s also a love song – I am married to the drummer and I’m saying no matter how many twists and turns and expansions my mind has, I am always grounded in him – you know I’ve got a butterfly mind but I settle on you.”

Uplifting and showcasing real potential in the world of soul-jazz and even funk and hip-hop, The Fabulous Red Diesel are a band that should be on everyone’s playlists.

Dutch artist Odillia teams up with Tha Doggfather himself Snoop Dogg on brand new track ‘Break It Down’

Odillia releases her most impressive track to date, collaborating with Tha Doggfather himself Snoop Dogg on brand new single ‘Break It Down.’

Released October 2nd, ‘Break It Down’ follows chart-topping debut single ‘End of the World’ and lives up to expectations.

I write all of my own songs. They are all based on things I have personally experiences or the experiences of people in my life. Sometimes, when two people are in a relationship but not on the same page, there comes that moment of honestly where they just have to break it down and say what it is they want or don’t want from each other. I’m excited to play off those emotions in a back and forth with Snoop with beautiful Aruba as the backdrop of the story.

Written by Odillia exploring the ups and downs of a relationships, it’ll come as no surprise how much success this single is getting across the globe.

A collaboration sent straight from the gods, ‘Break It Down’ is one of the musical highlights of the year.

Trey Songz accused of Sexual Misconduct

Original Article

Trey Songz has responded after he was accused of sexual misconduct.

The allegations emerged after a woman, known only as ‘Aliza’, alleged that a celebrity had urinated on her during a sexual encounter without her consent, and then refused to let her leave the room.

After remarking “I didn’t know what was happening, he just did it” on the No Jumper podcast, she later went on to identify Songz as the man in question.

Responding to the claims on Twitter, Songz wrote: “I usually stay quiet on this but I feel that in many ways the movement to fight for the women who actually have suffered harassment and abuse on various levels, has been hijacked by those who find it convenient for themselves to come up as they seek to destroy someone’s life.

“I brush it off every time but once you have an allegation no matter it’s true weight in validation, it’s now happened once and to some will be believable from that moment forward. None of that happened.”

Let’s hope victims received the support they deserve and the industry gets to the bottom of these allegations.

Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s WAP is a record breaker

Original Article

Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion‘s collaboration ‘WAP’ has broken the US record for the most first-week streams for a song.

The track was confirmed as being the new US number one on the Hot 100 by Billboard yesterday (August 17), earning Cardi her fourth US number one single and Megan her second.

‘WAP’ drew 93 million US streams in the week ending August 13, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data — the most for any track ever in its first week of release, surpassing Ariana Grande’s 85.3 million first-week streams for ‘7 Rings’ that she amassed back in February 2019.

Cardi and Megan’s collaboration is also the fourth Hot 100 number one in 2020 to be credited to two or more women (and no other billed acts), joining Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande’s ‘Rain On Me’, Megan Thee Stallion’s ‘Savage’ featuring Beyoncé and Doja Cat‘s ‘Say So’ featuring Nicki Minaj.

WAP has been a controversial single to say the least, yet Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion have proven its commercial viability despite the explicit nature of the song. Here’s to more number ones for powerful female duos.

Wiley faces twitter suspension in the aftermath of antisemitic outburst

Original Article

Wiley has been permanently banned from Twitter after he launched an extensive thread of anti-Semitic messages on the social media site.

The London rapper faced widespread condemnation after posting the vitriolic messages across Instagram and Twitter last weekend.

Twitter announced on Saturday (July 25) that Wiley had been banned from the site for a week, but his account appears to have been permanently suspended as of this morning (July 29).

When searching for his profile, users are met with a message confirming his suspension and a link to Twitter’s rules and regulations.

It comes a day after Wiley was banned from Facebook after an account reportedly belonging to the rapper began calling out some of his Jewish critics.

An unverified Facebook account under his real name, Richard Kylea Cowie, subsequently mentioned a selection of Jewish celebrities — including Lord Sugar, comedian David Baddiel and BBC presenter Emma Barnett — who have all criticised the rapper.

It’s great to see a zero tolerance response coming from social platforms, hate speech is often all too rife on social media and more action is necessary to combat racist and antisemitic rhetoric.

Tribute for the late Mac Miller in the works

Original Article

Mac Miller’s team are working on a tribute to the late rapper. The project asks fans to offer their “stories, thoughts and wishes”.

Mac Miller’s team are working on a new tribute project to celebrate the late rapper’s life and music.

The announcement, made overnight on Warner’s Twitter account, asked fans to offer their “stories, thoughts and wishes” by calling a toll-free number which had been set up specifically for the project. It included a website address, where fans must register to gain access to the number and leave their tributes.

Earlier this year, Warner released Miller’s posthumous album ‘Circles’, his sixth body of work. Miller had been working on the album before he died from an accidental drug overdose in September 2018, aged 26.

The passing of Mac Miller in 2018 affected many fans far and wide. I can only imagine the huge outpour of contributions towards this project for such a loved and talented figure in the industry.
